For most of the commissions I am entrusted with, initially, I cannot really tell a fixed price for it as a project and therefore I would like to share with you the rational behind costs.

[Variables on Price]
There are many variables in place that can affect the final price and time I will invest into creating your heirloom. Some of these variables are:
– Item itself: do you want an item that was passed on to you, or are you looking on having a brand new item created? How big is your item?
– Engraving style: traditional lines, brightcut scrolls, sculpted, inlays.
– On inlays, I currently work with sterling silver and 24k gold inlays. Given the volatile price of precious metals, and the elements you want engraved with those precious metals, the final price will be indeed affected.
– Shipping: I had customers paying 200-300 USD for 2 day shipping with insurance, while most of my customers are a bit more traditional and satisfied with regular certified mail with insurance and tracking number despite it could take from 10 – 15 days worldwide.
– Design. Depending on how difficult the design and how it is positioned on the item, I might have to create myself customized positioning clamps for securing your item while engraving.

[DOs and DONT’s]
I AM currently taking commissions on:
– Fountain Pens, Rings, Pocket Knives, Lighters (such as Zippo or Zorro).
– Items must not be gold/silver/nickel plated.
– On my repertoire, I liked working with: stainless steel, titanium grade 2 and 5, copper, brass, bronze, gold and silver.

I DON’T take commissions on:
– Any type of pistols/guns/riffles, hobo nickels nor inner ring lettering.
– Tungsten items.
– Already hardened knife blades.

[Rough Quotations]
For you to have an idea on pricing, you can find some examples below for engraving services. Item price not included.
– Signet signs. Starting around 300 EUR. Can be engraved on top or top and outer body. Also the ‘inverted’ modality for usage with wax seals.
– Engagement rings and wedding bands. Usually starting around 500 EUR for both pieces. Depending on styles described on the first section.
– Lettering. Hand engraved script or roman lettering starts at $8/letter with a minimum of 8 characters.
– Kaweco Brass & Bronze (AL Sport, Supra, Liliput). Starting around 150 EUR depending on the facets and designs. Most of the AL Sport ones shared on social media are on the 200 to 350 EUR.
– Designs including sculpted engraving, are on request.

I do not usually have items in stock for immediate engraving, and therefore I am clearly indicating my online sources for purchases on the initial quotation.
